John Solvie; City of Las Vegas
I began volunteering with ABC 12 years ago as a member of a Validation & Examination (V&E) Committee, the committees tasked with updating, validating, and maintaining ABC’s array of exams. This opportunity afforded me an opportunity to explore other various roles within the Association, and has led me to my current position as Vice Chair of C2EP.
Serving as an ABC volunteer is a unique opportunity to shape the future and overall professionalism of the industry on local, state, provincial, and international levels. ABC’s targeted focus to remain psychometrically valid in every aspect requires reasoned input from multiple stakeholders representing every sector of the industry.
The best part of volunteering has been the professional and personal relationships that have been forged throughout the years. Through serving with ABC, I am able to grasp the big picture on multiple certification issues. On a personal level, ABC takes great care of its volunteers and goes out of its way to ensure that travel and accommodation needs are not only met but exceeded.
If you are considering becoming a volunteer, just do it. You won't be disappointed.
