Awards Recognize Environmental Certification Advancement Efforts

AMES, Iowa - May 8, 2009

The ABC Awards Committee is seeking nominations to recognize the efforts of its members, volunteer board and committee members, and others who advance environmental certification. These awards are:

 

  • The Harris F. Seidel Award is a lifetime achievement award, recognizing outstanding individual contribution for establishing or advancing certification programs. Qualifying contributions for this award include innovative and successful approaches, leadership, development of materials, or any combination of these. The contributions shall be of regional or international scope, and of lasting value in improved performance by more highly qualified personnel and laboratory facilities. The recipient need not be a current or past operator or member of a certification board or committee.
  • The Certification Program Award recognizes the outstanding contribution by a member certification authority in establishing or advancing certification. The certifying authority shall have contributed through time and effort, innovative and successful approaches, leadership, development of materials, or a combination of any of these. The contributions shall be of state/provincial, regional, or international scope, and of lasting value in improved performance by more highly qualified personnel and laboratory facilities. The nominee shall be a Regulatory Program Member or Voluntary Program Member of the association.
  • The Robert C. McAnespie Certification Officer Award recognizes a member certification officer for outstanding contribution in establishing or advancing certification. The certification officer shall have contributed through time and effort, innovative and successful approaches, leadership, development of materials, or a combination of any of these. The contributions shall be of state/provincial, regional, or international scope, and of lasting value in improved performance by more highly qualified personnel and laboratory facilities.
  • The Excellence in Service Award recognizes the efforts of a volunteer, or groups of volunteers, for outstanding service to ABC. The volunteer(s) shall have contributed to the Association through time and effort, innovative and successful approaches, leadership, development of materials, or a combination of any of these. The recipient(s) may be any individual who meets the qualifications, need not have been or currently be a member of ABC, and need not have been or currently be an operator or a member of a certification board or committee.

 

Nominations may be made by association members, by members of the association board of directors, by training and/or certification committees of AWWA and WEF and their local sections or associations, or by similar organizations actively involved in training and/or certification.

Nominations shall be in writing and shall describe the nominee contributions that warrant consideration for the award. Please use the nomination form and include a nominee resume of the professional and community activities or program accomplishments.

Nominations must be received by the ABC office by June 30, 2009 to be considered for the awards.
